It’s great to be a guy

There is something great about being a guy. You wouldn’t trade it for the world. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got nothing against the ladies. My wife is a lady and I’m really grateful for that fact – it’s just being a guy is really special.

God has put something in us….a warrior spirit. You probably get the image of a bloke with a sword and shield, yelling “they can never take our freedom or “this is Sparta”. Forget it, it’s just not relevant anymore. Think more along the lines of pushing yourself harder and further everytime you go to the gym. Or applying all your knowledge and using your best pitch to close a sale. That rush and excitement you get from these things is because of that warrior spirit that God placed in you. Through these things we exercise it, hone it, but it’s not why it’s there. This is where we go back to William Wallace and that guy with the real cool beard from 300. They were going to battle for righteousness and justice. To protect the things they loved. That is why God has given us a warrior spirit.

Our battleground, among other thing, is first and foremost in the spirit. Our first fight is one of prayer. 2 Cor 10:4-5 in the Message Bible says: We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. This is unashamedly praising and worshipping God, professing His truth. Declaring His will and rebuking the enemy. We do this on behalf of ourselves, family, friends, workplace and our church. This is our responsibility as guys that have a warrior spirit. We cant leave this for someone else to do. These things are far too important for us not to take a stand.

So value and appreciate the warrior spirit God has placed in you and come along to mens prayer – 6.30pm, Thursday at The Centre. Take a stand with other like minded men. Finally, I encourage you to pray with the intensity and power of the warrior you were born again to be.
